Parenting & The Paradox of Choice

In an article for Slate, Swarthmore psych professor Barry Schwartz applies the key principles of his book, The Paradox of Choice: Why More is Less, to the challenges of parenting.

The executive summary: Parents who relentlessly pursue "only the best" for their kids are more stressed and take time away from their kids, and in the process, to do them a disservice. Lighten up on yourself and learn to be satisfied with "good enough" for some things that matter less (like cribs, strollers, and high chairs [uh-oh, -ed.]). "choose when to choose," and spend your time and energy on your kid and on decisions where "the best" actually matters (like teachers, schools, and healthcare).

I'm pretty confident that its editorial focus makes daddytypes.com part of the solution, not part of the problem. Confident, or deluded.
